Community Colleges for Community Solar

Designed as a scalable model to make solar energy significantly more accessible to Community Colleges throughout the U.S. and the low and moderate income communities they serve. The Community Colleges for Community Solar project will be hosted at three Community Colleges for the Solar in Your Community Challenge. The pilot colleges are strategically placed throughout the state to show a diversity of metropolitan and rural communities.

The Community Colleges for Community Solar Project will be structured to allow Community Colleges to host up to a 2MW ground mounted community solar garden on the college campus. This model will provide low and moderate income consumers within community college districts an opportunity to participate in the development of the solar arrays and reduce their annual utility bills. Additionally, a percentage of the array outputs may be allocated to local nonprofits and the host colleges.
