Project Description
Project / Program Description

The State Energy Office will work with the State Home Weatherization program and the community action agencies to develop a program to provide technical and financial assistance for the development of solar projects at multi-family affordable housing facilities in Illinois. This will involve a combination of weatherization funds, federal investment tax credits (for private building owners), renewable energy credits, other potential state funds (Illinois Solar for All), and two additional financial mechanisms – a solarize (bulk solar panel purchase) campaign, and a solar finance program. The combination of these various funds and programs will make solar very affordable for multi-family affordable housing, and make going solar a clear-cut decision for building owners.  This program will be piloted in Cook County, Illinois.
