- Project / Program Description
Team Solar Maine’s Power for the People 100 kW pilot project will provide community-based solar power to up to nine LMI households and one anchor organization within Central Maine Power Co.’s service area. Participants will receive an estimated 5% savings on their overall energy costs during their loan period. The pilot implementation is expected to be completed in the spring of 2018. Using less energy, building solar facilities with community labor, generating energy for the community, and reducing the cost of energy will help revitalize the local economy. Team Solar Maine includes the Center for an Ecology-Based Economy (CEBE), a grassroots 501(c)(3); Garbo-Kane, a local solar installation company; Michael Sampson, Housing Services Manager at Community Concepts;and the Fare Share Market, a local food co-op. Team Solar Maine is dedicated to challenging Maine’s restrictive net-metering policies.
